Hi - my name is Daryl Lees and I was born on 25th October 1965, at 8:10pm in the King's Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

I live in a town called Kirkby-in-Ashfield, in the county of Nottinghamshire, which is in the East Midlands of England, a country of the United Kingdom (UK).

My mother's name is Jill and my father's name was William Edward.  My father died on New Year's Eve 2001, just a day short of his 75th birthday. He was born on New Year's Day 1927. So he was born on the first day of 1927, and died on the last day of 2001, there aren't many people that are born and die on the first and last days of a year - he was the kind of man who would've liked that!

In 1974, my mother and late father divorced, and in 1976, my Mam remarried to Richard Arthur McMurdo, known to us all as Mac. they have now been married for over 30 years.

I have one brother and three sisters. My brother's name is Kevin, and my sisters' names are Jill, June and Karen.  Our Jill and June are the oldest. They are twins and and just 10 minutes separate them. They were born in 1951, my brother Kevin was born in 1953 and my sister Karen was born in 1955.  Between them all they have had 14 children, so I am an uncle to that many.  Between all my nieces and nephews, they have 25 children so I am a Great Uncle to that many. My eldest great niece Natalie, has had a baby girl, named Courtney, so now I am a great-great uncle as well - and I am only in my 40s too!

My schooling was at Morven Park Infants School, Jeffries Junior School and Ashfield Comprehensive School. I started school in 1969 and left in 1982 with standard education examination results.

I started work straightaway at 16-years-old at Ashfield Builders Merchants Ltd. on a YOP (Youth Opportunities Programme), and worked there for about a year, when the YOP ran out and I started work, again on another YOP at Wigfalls Electrical Store in Sutton. I worked there for about six months before starting my first full-time job as a barman at the Coronation Social Club in 1984. I left there in 1991, having reached the position of Head Barman, to start work at the well-known hosiery firm Pretty Polly Ltd, also at Sutton.  I left Pretty Polly in 1992, due to ill-health, which has stayed with me ever since.

I live on my own, but have my family and friends for their continuing love and support and they often visit me.
